The Fisheries and Maritime Museum

The Fisheries and Maritime Museum is Denmark's museum for the sea, and as the only museum in the country, we view the sea through lenses that are both natural-historical and cultural-historical. This means that we have historical images and objects, but also plenty of live animals that you can experience in the aquarium and seal enclosure. So, when you visit us, you will get to see the sea in a completely new, fun, and different way.

Posthuset Esbjerg

The old post office on Torvet in Esbjerg is one of the city's most distinctive buildings, with its entirely unique architectural style, even compared to other post offices of that time elsewhere in the country. The post office was designed by architect Ulrik Plesner, who received assistance from another renowned architect and designer, Thorvald Bindesbøll, for the interior decoration. For Thorvald Bindesbøll, who is part of the Danish Cultural Canon, the post office became one of his final works before he passed away in 1908.
